What is a Firewalk Ceremony?

A firewalk ceremony is a transformational rite of passage in which participants walk barefoot across a path of glowing embers. The walk itself is part of a larger process of preparation, intention setting and collective support that helps participants move beyond fear and reconnect with courage and trust.

Is firewalking safe?

We are working with real fire and embers and so there is an inherent risk in Firewalking- as there is in any high risk activity, such as skiing- if you ski you can break a leg or arm. However, we have been trained by Peggy Dylan of Sundoor and her long established firewalking school to offer our Alchemy of Worlds firewalks in the safest possible ways in regards to the wood, length and depth of the embers and particularly the preparation. In our firewalk ceremonies preparation is essential. Participants are guided step by step through building and lighting of the fire together and a powerful lecture to prepare for the walk- no one walks before they feel ready. The fire is carefully prepared and the ceremony is held within a structured and safe environment.

Does a firewalk hurt ?

In a well-prepared firewalk ceremony most participants do not experience pain. The combination of preparation, focus and the way the fire is prepared allows participants to walk across the embers safely. This said, firewalking is a real experience with real fire, which is why the ceremony is carefully guided from beginning to end.

How hot are the coals in a firewalk ?

The embers used in a firewalk can reach temperatures between approximately 400 and 600°C. However the way the fire is prepared and the technique of walking allow participants to cross the ember path safely when guided by experienced practitioners.

Can anyone do a Firewalk ?

Most people can participate in a firewalk ceremony. No previous experience, special training or particular level of fitness is required. Participants simply need to be willing to engage in the preparation process and follow the guidance offered during the ceremony.

We work with groups from 10 to 100+, depending on the event format. Private ceremonies can be arranged for smaller groups.

We offer firewalk ceremonies across the UK and Europe for retreats, leadership events, festivals and community gatherings. Firewalk experiences can be organised in retreat centres, outdoor venues and private event spaces.
